They sat in the cave, huddled around the fire, clad only in their undergarments, saying nothing. A line of rope was strung between two outcroppings of rock, and the garments which hung from it dripped and slowly dried in the warmth of the fire. Vincent Valentine, dressed only in a pair of black silk boxers and dark green cotton socks, used a barrel-cleaning tool to slowly shove the dead carcases of five mice out of his sniper rifle. Barret picked cheese and pastrami out of his gun-hand. Meanwhile Cloud silently extracted small bits of glass out of the bottom of his foot, while Tifa, clad only in a bra and half-slip, pulled porcupine quills out of Cid’s back as he sat and smoked and stewed. Nanaki licked tomato out of his fur as Yuffie, still sniffling, cut what looked like bubble gum and gunpowder out of her hair. Aeris, dressed only in a full slip, sat primly on a rock, hands in her lap, stained blue from the shoulders up. She cleared her throat. “I vote we never speak of this day again,” she said. “All in favour?” “Aye,” came the muttered reply from her companions. |
